Now in private practice in La Jolla, CA, Dr. Kohani is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Integrative Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American College of Physician and a Voluntary Associate Professor of Medicine, teaching at UCSD School of Medicine. She attended Harvard Medical School and subsequently did her Residency training at Georgetown Hospitals. Upon completion of her Internal Medicine training, she did a Fellowship in Integrative Medicine with Dr. Andrew Weil in Arizona as well as training in Ayurvedic and Functional Medicine.

Dr. Kohani combines the best of conventional and functional medicine modalities to achieve optimum health. “Integrative Medicine is the practice of medicine that focuses on the whole person. It relies on evidence and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches to achieve optimum health and healing.”

Dr. Kohani founded RevivaMed with the goal of improving the body’s natural ability to heal and treating the underlying causes of symptoms. She uses natural herbs and nutritional supplements to enhance wellness, along with bio-identical hormones to improve metabolic regulation, cellular energy and treating the underlying cause of fatigue. Nutritional guidance and cancer prevention are among the various approaches used to enhance wellness at RevivaMed.

Working with Dr. Andrew Weil

Dr. Kohani worked closely with Dr. Andrew Weil, considered by many the father of modern integrative medicine. Along with the highly-respected team of integrative physicians at the University of Arizona, she was an attending physician and trained other physicians in the practice of Integrative Medicine. Dr. Kohani maintains close communication with Dr. Weil’s team to this day.

Roya Kohani M.D., FACP is a Voluntary Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSD School of Medicine. She is a former attending physician at Scripps Clinic Green Hospital and at UCSD Thornton Hospital in La Jolla. Dr. Kohani spent six years training and working with Dr. Andrew Weil in Arizona and is Board Certified in Integrative Medicine. She is now in private practice in La Jolla and San Diego.

In Her Community

Dr. Kohani is formerly on the Board of Directors of the Harvard Club of San Diego and continues to be an active member of various Harvard committes. In addition, she is an adjunct teaching faculty at the UCSD School of Medicine teaching young medical students in their medical training. She has been interviewed by local media and has given numerous lectures at local Libraries, and schools about natural medicine, natural healing and the importance of healthy nutrition.
