A long upper lip, which is the distance between the base of the lip and the top of the red lip, occurs naturally in some people. In others this distance increases with age. This results in an aged and sad appearance. Fillers may be used to fill the lip and make a long lip appear shorter, but a lip lift may provide a better and more durable solution.
In an upper lift, an incision is made at the base of the nose and some of the upper lip skin removed. This lifts the upper lip and more of the red lip is visible, making the lips appear fuller and more youthful. The scar usually heals well.
Another option is to lift the corners of the lip by removing the skin above the corners.
Either procedure can be performed in the office under local anesthesia or combined with other procedures. Downtime and pain are usually minimal.
Lip lifts are one of the many procedures available to enhance the lip. Schedule a complimentary consultation to find the best option for you.
